Complementary Therapies for Women

  • Womb & Fertility Massage

Womb and Fertility massage aims to:

    • Improve women’s menstrual health, regulating cycles and easing menstrual / menopausal symptoms.

    • Prepare and support a woman on her fertility journey, whether natural or assisted.

    • Aid healthy digestion and elimination by encouraging a peristaltic action of the bowel.

  • Women's Wellness Massage

An aromatherapeutic massage using a combination of Swedish & lymphatic drainage techniques. Targeted specifically for women. The full body option includes a Neal’s Yard facial. Or choose a back, neck & shoulder massage.

  • Meno-Massage

A relaxing massage using balancing essential oils, plus acupressure to alleviate some common menopausal symptoms. Strategically placed magnet plasters are applied to go home with and reduce symptoms such as hot flushes.

  • Scar Therapy

Specialising in C-Section, female abdominal scars, and breast scars, I offer a scar therapy service to help your scar heal better, improve the cosmetic appearance and mobility, while reducing pain and pulling. Treating a scar can minimise wider disruption on other areas of the body, promote healthy tissue formation and minimise adhesions. No scar is too old to treat. Treatment options vary.

“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform”

-Diane Mariechild

Women’s hormones have important roles to play in general health and reproduction, with some of the most significant changes occuring during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy and menopause. When hormones are imbalanced, we suffer symptoms such as PMS, heavy periods, irregular periods, tender breasts, high cortisol, and levels of infertility.

The decline of oestrogen and progesterone during perimenopause and menopause is often variable and erratic, and not so much of a steady process, therefore contributing to undesirable feelings and symptoms. The ovaries naturally produce less hormones as we get older and as they decline we are more susceptible to the effects of stress due to cortisol levels rising as a result of the body prioritising survival over reproductive and digestive function.

It is a time to find ways of understanding our bodies, managing our symptoms and stress responses, therefore improving resilience and wellbeing. Relaxation practices such as massage are an excellent way to reduce anxiety and stress, improve sleep, improve mood, and minimise many hormonal symptoms at whatever stage of a woman’s life cycle. Prioritising time out for pleasurable activities and restorative rest to improve health is slowly becoming more accepted, but we have a long way to go.

What I can help with

Women’s Wellness

An aromatherapeutic massage for women, whether that is a massage to relieve muscle tension, aid relaxation and sleep, provide clarity to the mind, uplift mood, or balance hormones. I will choose from a selection of aromatherapy blends depending on your specific needs. A full body massage which is somewhere between Swedish and lymphatic drainage, ending with a refreshing Neal’s Yard facial using facial acupressure and lymphatic drainage techniques. Option for a back, neck and shoulders also.

Menstrual & Hormonal Health

Womb massage may help support and improve many menstrual issues by bringing the womb into alignment and clearing stagnant blood. Issues that womb massage may help with are heavy painful periods and irregular menstrual cycles. From teenagers and young adults struggling with their menstrual health, to women at any stage of life.

Womb Health & Fertility

Womb and Fertility Massage may help encourage oxygenated blood flow to the reproductive organs, nourishing the uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes, therefore assisting an improved function. A fertility journey can lead to stress and emotional turmoil, and we hold a lot of stress and tension in the abdominal area and womb. Fertility massage involves gentle techniques that ease tension, lower cortisol levels, calming the nervous system. Including rebozo techniques, this is a beautiful mix of physical, emotional and spiritual healing.

Perimenopause, Menopause & Postmenopause

Menopause is a complex physiological process that affects the body in various ways. Meno-Massage is a unique treatment specifically aimed at women during perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause. Using a ‘4 point missile’ approach, this holistic therapy involves:

  • A deeply relaxing massage, somewhere in between Swedish and oncology, to focus in on the parasympathetic nervous system

  • An aromatherapy blend specially crafted with essential oils that harmonise female hormones, helping find stability and tranquility

  • Stimulation of various acupressure points over the body, targeting troublesome menopausal symptoms. Acupressure is known for its ability to restore balance and vitality

  • The use of acupressure magnet plasters. A useful tool to provide continuous support at home in between treatments and embrace the transformative effects of the therapy

Digestive Health

Womb and fertility massage involves abdominal and sacral massage that encourages increased circulation to the abdomen. I work on relieving congestion built up in the digestive tract, which may help encourage a peristaltic action in the digestive system, to support efficient elimination and enhance the immune system. Did you know 80% of our immune system lives within our digestive tract? When we are stressed and anxious, our digestive system can get sluggish or grind to a halt as the body does not prioritise its need over survival systems. Immunity, digestion and fertility are all closely linked. Women’s Wellness Massage also involves a nourishing abdominal massage to improve digestive health.

“The hormonal changes, the highs and lows, and the hormonal shifts, there is power in that”

- Michelle Obama

My primary focus is to highlight the importance of women’s health, emphasising the need to be listened to and supported. A woman’s journey through each life stage is monumental and unique, but somewhat confusing if not understood.

I offer a safe space for women to enjoy a treatment of their choice depending on their needs, whether that is simply relaxation and tension release, or to help with hormonal imbalance, menstrual health and regulation, menopausal symptoms, to aid fertility health, or help your scar healing journey.

Being a dual trained health care professional, I have knowledge and experience in the body’s physiological processes, and through my work in holistic care, I understand how complementary therapies can work effectively alongside traditional medical care to maintain women’s health. That can mean opting to benefit from complementary therapies whilst receiving fertility treatment, or taking HRT during menopause.
